Organizational Structure

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE VIRTUAL LIBRARY OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES-BOLIVIA

The Virtual Library of Indigenous Peoples, Inter-culturality and Traditional Medicine-Bolivia is structure in the following way:

ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Formed of the highest authorities of the participating institutions of the The Virtual Library of Indigenous Peoples, Inter-culturality and Traditional Medicine-Bolivia, its main functions are:

  • Definition of internal and external policies and strategies of action for the VLIP-Bolivia.
  • Overall supervision of the implementation of the project.
  • Representation of the VLIP-Bolivia to international organizations.
  • Be chaired by a director which will be elected at a general assembly for a period of one calendar year.

TECHNICAL COMMITTEE

The Technical Committee is made up of all the technical representatives of the participating institutions of the VLIP-Bolivia. It is chaired by an Executive Committee including a technical representative of the PAHO/WHO, a National Coordinator, and Secretary General. The two former are elected by vote and hold their positions for a period of one calendar year.

The activities that the Executive Technical Committee will perform are as follows:

  • Overall coordination of the VLIP-Bolivia.
  • Responsibilities of the management and maintenance components of the VLIP-Bolivia.
  • Monitoring of the development of meetings.
  • Holding of meetings and maintenance of the coordination of the technical committee.
  • Generation and maintenance of agreements of meetings.
  • Representation of the VLIP-Bolivia to other organization at the national and international level at technical events of information processing.

The activities that the technical committee shall perform under the direct supervision of the members of the Executive Technical Committee are as follows:

  • Coordination with commissions and appointees of projects for the creation of projects.
  • Control and monitoring of the various activities assigned to commissions, institutions, individuals, and specific working groups.
  • Technical and logistical support of work carried out by commissions.
  • Institutional management.
  • Control and monitoring of details of the web page, databases, and the timely delivery of information to institutions.
  • Control and monitoring of information management and cooperation of particular institutions of the advisory committee.
  • Elaborate reports and respective monitoring of the rescission of an institution.

TECHNICAL COMISSION

The technical commission is made up of computer technicians and systems engineers of participating institutions of the VLIP-Bolivia and shall hold the responsibility of office for the period of one calendar year.

Their activities to fulfill are as follows:

  • Implementation of new communications technology.
  • Maintenance of software and hardware to run the network.
  • Connection and installations of application software for members of the VLIP-Bolivia on their preferred computers.
  • Direct support of the work of the network´s server in terms of this operation and connection.
  • Support for the maintenance and completion of the database in the aspects of its incorporation, information control, and inclusion on the web page.

COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING COMISSION

The communications and marketing commission consists of a minimum of four members that will be chosen by the intuitions forming the Technical Committee in accordance to a majority vote and they shall hold the responsibility of office for the period of one calendar year.

Their activities to fulfill are as follows:

  • Planning of projects of the diffusion and marketing of existing information.
  • Communication of projects to the Advisory Committee.
  • Implementation of projects approved by the Advisory Committee.
  • Marketing research of other institutions similar to VLIP-Bolivia.
  • Contacting and communication with other institution at the national and international level that manage information in the same topic as VLIP-Bolivia.
